Orius reaches a major milestone with the implementation of its industrial pilot

Orius continues its development with the launch of its industrial pilot. This cutting-edge tool has been designed to meet the needs of the cosmetics, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical sectors, which require high-quality botanical raw materials and ingredients that combine safety with environmental performance.

A tool empowering strategic industries

Botanical raw materials are crucial for industries such as cosmetics, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals. However, their supply presents numerous challenges: quality, standardization, risk of adulteration, social conditions, and environmental impact. Climate change exacerbates these uncertainties, threatening the availability of certain crops.

In response, we offer a solution — a local, controlled, and secure supply — that perfectly meets the expectations of industry players. By controlling all cultivation parameters — temperature, humidity, light, and nutrition — Orius ensures continuous, standardized production with a limited and controlled environmental impact.

Our industrial pilot marks a key stage in the creation of a new supply chain for botanical raw materials. It features innovative cultivation chambers called “Biomecell”. "Biome" refers to these units' ability to recreate the ideal ecosystem for each plant, functioning as a controlled microcosm within a "cell," a cultivation chamber.

Innovation serving biology and life

What set us apart is the performance and flexibility of the technologies we develop. These technologies can not only replicate the natural conditions of plants but also exceed them through advanced environmental control. Orius' research team can act on various biological factors of the plants to increase the concentration of active compounds, which are widely used in the cosmetic and medical sectors. These optimized botanical raw materials, available year-round, maintain consistent and standardized quality.

We also incorporate major innovations in sustainability: high-efficiency LEDs, an optimized climate control system to reduce energy consumption — for which we have filed two patents —, as well as a water and nutrient recycling and recirculation system, reducing usage by 95% compared to conventional methods.

Continuous evolution: from phytotrons to industrial pilot

In 2022, we launched the BiomeboxⓇ, a compact phytotron designed for scientific research and small-scale production of plant-based raw materials. Following this success, we expanded our capabilities in 2023 with an R&D platform featuring 10 BiomeboxⓇ units, offering our services to develop future botanical bestsellers.

Numerous fruitful collaborations have emerged with major industrial players in the cosmetics, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical sectors, leading laboratories and ingredient suppliers.

« Orius' ability to modulate the chemical composition of plants is attracting increasing market attention. With our industrial pilot, we will be able to produce significant volumes of plant-based raw materials, paving the way for a new, innovative, and high-quality supply chain. » commented Paul-Hector Oliver, CEO of Orius

A key step toward large-scale production

With the inauguration of 500 square meters of production space, we significantly increase our production capacity, targeting up to 20 tons of fresh plants per year by the end of the year and 100 tons by 2025. This new facility provides high performance, comparable to that of phytotrons, ensuring optimal product quality.

The launch of this pilot marks the beginning of Orius' industrialization, with plans for the construction of a large-scale plant to produce botanical raw materials and ingredients. This facility, which is projected to produce more than 2 000 tons of fresh plants per year, is already under consideration with local partners.
